Description
(This is a continuation of #833 - illume-keyboard localization needs - the GUI semantics needs improvement in both testing and unstable image )
After doing:
opkg install illume-keyboard-danish
and rebooting;
No danish keyboard dictionary appears under the left keyboard menu-buttom, it should according to #833. It ought to be chooseable under the left keyboard buttom along with "english (US)" and "english (US) small".
The danish dictionary is in:
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume/dicts
-
It does not make sense that the keyboard localization is chosen to the right and the dictionary to the left. It only make sense to choose them simultaneously - and all three keyboards should have their layouts localized.
-
Proposition 1:
The three keyboard layouts and the dictionary should be chosen via the left buttom.
-
Proposition 2:
One extra keyboard layout "Terminal-en" (english/US keyboard layout) ought to be apossibility at the right buttom.
-
I have not read about the enlightenment design, but is there a good reasen why keyboard layouts and dictionary appear under multiple directories?:
Among others - dicts and keyboards appear in directory:
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume/
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume-keyboard
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume2
(the last has no dicts though)
These directories also appear to have the same function/directories/files?:
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume-indicator
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume-home
/usr/lib/enlightenment/modules/illume-softkey
-
If a keyboard layout only needs to be copied here, then the other directories are not needed or...?:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Illume_keyboard#How_to_install_a_new_layout
The same for dicts:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Illume_keyboard#How_to_import_dictionaries
-
If there is a good reason to all these directories, then please explain and/or provide manual/information links. Please do not answer "RTFM" again - I do not know where the manuals for illume and/or enlightenment are.
I have tried the assemble as much information as I could from other articles here:

Hey zoff99
When you are using the "terminal"-keyboard, the corrective system does not interfere. It only works with the "default"-keyboard.
Proposition 1 should still be fine.

no sorry.
i dont understand you comment. terminal keyboard has nothing to do with this.
i have german keyboard and default (english) keyboard installed.
i dont want to have to change keyboards to have a different dict.
also there is english small and english dict. and i have 2 german dicts. because my normal german dict. is 4MB size, and sometimes i want a smaller one.
dict. and keyboard should be a sperate thing. and as such be seperatly selectable.

Why they appear in multiple directories:
Illume is being redesigned as we speak and e17 ship both versions as modules in the default installation. Illume2 and Illume-* are the relevant parts of the rewrite illume is the old dir (which we use).
IIRC illume does not have any docs available atm, but everything e17 related (including illume) is available at: enlightenment.org
I agree with zoff99 about correct behavior, and disagree with you :P
But anyhow, whether we agree or not is not important is irrelevant, as (like you noticed yourself) it's an e17/illume issue, and not SHR specific.
I'm closing this one as upstream. If you want, you can open a ticket on the e17 trac, at: http://enlightenment.org
If you have any more questions (or any the future, the first questions as well) please ask at shr-devel/user (depends on the type of question).
Ciao.

actually it DOES make sense to choose the keyboard and dict. seperatly.
i sometimes want to write english sms, or english words.
but i always use german keyboard.
i dont want changing keyboard also changing my dict. !!
